About wire transfers
Wire transfer: processing time
Banks issue two types of transfers:
- Instants : sent to recipient account in 30 seconds;
- Classic : sent to the recipient account within 2 to 3 bank working days (excluding weekends and public holidays).
Outgoing transfers
Transfers made via the application are issued instantly. If instant reception is not possible, transfers will be received in the classic way.
SWIFT transfers (international transfers outside the euro zone) are currently not possible.
Customers can download a transfer confirmation from their history by opening the transaction concerned, or refer to the notification or confirmation e-mail. Finally, the customer can consult the beneficiary account of the transfer, if he has access to.
Conditions for sending an instant transfer
Customers don't have to follow a specific path in the application, or select an option to issue an instant transfer. They are by default, for all verified customers (to get it, click here from a mobile phone).
In certain cases or under certain conditions, wire transfers must be initiated in the classic way (effective credit within 2 to 3 working days):
- If the receiving bank is not compatible with instant payment technology. To find out more, the customer can consult the website of the bank concerned or contact it directly
- If the beneficiary account is not compatible with instant payment technology. This may be the case for accounts that are not current accounts, such as Livret A accounts
- If the interbank platform for processing instant payment flows is temporarily out of service or under maintenance
- If the profile of the customer initiating the transfer is deemed risky by our transaction security department
Incoming transfers
Incoming transfers are credited to the customer's account as soon as they are received. The time taken to receive a transfer therefore depends on the type of transfer (instant or classic). If notifications are activated, the customer will be informed when the transfer is received.
For international transfers issued outside the SEPA zone (SWIFT transfers), the sender will receive back the funds on the debited account. If necessary, the sender can contact the emitter bank.
Conditions for receiving an instant transfer
Transfers may be subject to charges by the emitter bank. The customer can choose whether to receive them instantly or in the classic way.
In certain cases, or under certain conditions, wire transfers must be received in the classic way:
- If the issuing bank is not compatible with instant payment technology. For further information, the customer can consult the website of the bank concerned or contact the bank;
- If the interbank platform for processing instant payment flows is temporarily out of service or under maintenance;
- If the recipient's profile needs to be analyzed for banking security reasons;
- If the customer does not wish to be charged a fee by his bank at the time of initiating the transfer.
